Consider the following when choosing a label to best suit your applications

Label life span: Direct thermal labels last a few months and thermal transfer labels last more than a year.
Black and white or Colour outputs: Thermal printers are ideal for black and white and inkjet labels printers are ideal for colour labels
Label material: Paper or Synthetic such as metalisyed polyester.
Label adhesive: Permanent or removable labels.
Label rolls or sheet labels: Depends on the printer you use.
Label roll core size. (Most desktop label printers can take labels rolls with either 25mm or 38 core sizes. Industrial labels printers require larger cores such as 76mm core)

Thermal transfer printers require printer ribbons.

Choose a ribbon width that is wide enough to cover the label width.
Choose ribbons material (Wax, Wax/Resin or Resin)
