Types of Label Printers

Being in the market to buy a label printer means you will need to understand the various types of label printers that are currently being sold in order to know which one is best for you. So if you thought that you would only have a choice of one or two you are wrong. Here is a quick rundown of the types of label printers that you will be able to choose from.

Desktop printers for labels – these are ideal for anyone who is thinking of light use when it comes to printing out labels. They are quite expensive to purchase and will often take rolls of labels that are up to 4 inches wide. When these printers are in operation there are very quiet which makes them a good choice for an office environment.

Commercial printers – these are a little more heavy duty then desktop printers and are able to hold rolls of labels that are up to 8 inches wide. Printers like this are a good choice if you are looking for a medium volume level of printing which means that they are a good choice for smaller stores.

Industrial printers – if you are running a distribution centre, a factory or a warehouse and you need to produce labelled on a continuous basis these are the label printers for you. They are incredibly durable and of capable of producing thousands of label each day and all of them will be to a very high standard. As you would think these can be quite expensive, however this expense is relative when compared to the number of labels it can produce and the durability of the product.

Portable printers – these as the name suggests do not need to be kept on a desk and they can be moved around with ease. You can get these that range from light to industrial youth which means they can be used in offices, warehouses and other environments where a portable printer would be useful.

Personal label printers – these are small, hand held devices that can be used to print your own personal labels. They are not designed for continuous use and should only be used at home or in a small business or office. You will print the labels onto a specially designed pair that will fit inside the printer and these labels can then be removed from the printer and stuck to whatever you need them for.

As you can see there are plenty of different types of printers that are capable of producing high-quality labels. Before you make your purchase you should always think about the kind of use that your printer will be required for. If you are looking for a model that will print out thousands of labels each day and that will be very durable you need to look towards an industrial printer. However if you only require light use a personal printer or a desktop printer suitable for labels would be much more suitable for your individual needs.
