RFID Printer Released

Austab Barcode Systems recently launched the latest range of SATO Barcode Label Printers. SATO introduced the world’s first barcode label printer in the early 80’s and continues to lead through innovation in design and quality products.

In another first, SATO has introduced a barcode printer with an optional RFID module, which can be fitted on site. Radio Frequency Identification or RFID as it is known, has been around for some time, however the technology has been relatively expensive. Costs are decreasing and RFID is gaining acceptance especially in Europe and USA.

RFID technology encodes large amounts of information into a smart label using Austab’s INTELLITAG® and INTELLITAB® technology. Unlike traditional barcode scanning technology it doesn’t require line of sight to read or add information to the label. In addition the label has read and write capabilities, allowing the information on the label to be changed many times over. INTELLITAG® and INTELLITAB® labels can withstand harsh environments and are not effected by dirt, grease or paint.

SATO has combined the benefits of Barcoding and RFID to offer the best of both technologies. In addition to the RFID information, you can print text, graphics and barcodes on the label as with traditional labels.
